Service area
Radon testing is available across Winnebago County, Illinois, an EPA-designated high-radon zone. An estimated 2 out of 5 homes in the county test above the action level, regardless of the town or the age of the house.
These are the towns with genuine coverage rather than a list padded out to look bigger. If you are just outside one of them, ask anyway.
Rockford
Rockford is the largest market in Winnebago County, and radon testing here covers everything from pre-war homes near downtown to newer subdivisions on the north side. The house's age doesn't change the underlying risk — the geology beneath the whole area does.
Loves Park
Loves Park sits just south of Machesney Park, with a mix of established subdivisions and a real rental market. Testing here is common both for homeowners who've simply never checked and for landlords confirming a unit before a new tenant moves in.
Machesney Park
Machesney Park incorporated in 1981 and grew outward without the platted subdivisions older towns have. It's a mix of single-family homes and a significant rental inventory, and radon testing serves both.
Roscoe
Roscoe sits north of Machesney Park along the Rock River, mostly newer subdivisions and larger single-family homes. Newer construction here doesn't mean lower radon risk — it means the house is worth testing before assuming it's fine.
Rockton
Rockton sits at the north end of the service area near the Wisconsin line, a mix of older village-centre properties and newer subdivision housing. Testing is usually scheduled a few days ahead rather than same-day out here.
Belvidere
Belvidere sits east of Rockford in Boone County, the furthest regular stop in the service area. It's a mix of older in-town housing and newer subdivision builds on the edges, and both carry the same regional radon risk.
